Maptech, Garmin and Captn. Jack's
Navigate your way in style...
Oct 26, 2006

The unusual union of electronic- and paper-chart makers, a manufacturer of chart plotters and GPS units, and a forward- thinking Massachusetts retailer has produced something different for the marine market: preloaded hardware.

Captn. Jack's has been in the mail-order business for 15 years and recently joined forces with all of the aforementioned to provide anglers and boaters with preloaded fishing and cruising waypoints in Garmin hand-held (GPSMAP 76Cx), midsize (GPSMAP 492) and full-size (GPSMAP 2206) chart plotters. The package comes with a Maptech waterproof chart book of your choice (with coverage of the entire U.S. coast), with all the waypoints contained on the Maptech charts already loaded into the chart plotters. Each package also includes PC charting software that converts charts from your home PC to your chart plotter, allows laptops to act as chart plotters (with the addition of a GPS) and more. The 76Cx includes a GPS guide, while the 492 and 2206 come with a chart symbol guide as well.

The 76Cx package retails for $549; the 492 for $999; and the 2206 for $1,699. Captn. Jack's, 800-227-5225, www.capjack.com.
